About
The Artist
Throughout
her life, Elaine Pelz has nurtured a love of textiles. Be it bright and
bold Scandinavian prints, the sophisticated intricacies of Italian designs,
or the practical hard-working fabrics that she sold to architects and
interior designers, she has always found beauty in fabric.
The years Elaine spent growing up in the California sunshine led to a
desire to blend colors in unexpected ways. After earning a degree in Textile
Design from the University of Washington, she spent time working with
interior designers and architects, where she became familiar with the
business side of design. In 2003 Simcha Textiles was born, allowing Elaine
to combine her knowledge and passion for textiles with her years of professional
design experience.
Elaine’s creativity and technical precision allow her to manipulate
soft, sensuous fibers in unexpected patterns and color combinations. She
hand weaves each unique piece in her attic studio in Bexley, Ohio.
